Milestone emails and the monthly update are off until you switch them on in Settings, under Notifications. The app sends their figures after a check-in. Switching one off, or using its unsubscribe link, deletes what was sent for it.

Escape Velocity has not had an independent security audit. Its code is covered by automated tests that check what the server accepts and what each email contains. Your numbers are encrypted in your browser before they are sent, and the key is kept with your account.

Encrypted before it is sent.

Your browser encrypts your numbers with AES-256-GCM. The key is kept with your account, so logging in can open them.

FAQ

Privacy questions

Who can see the numbers I type in?

You, when you are logged in. They are saved to your account, stored encrypted. Anyone at your unlocked screen can see them.

Can you read my numbers?

They are encrypted in your browser before they are sent, and stored encrypted. The key is kept with your account so that logging in can open them. That means our systems are able to open them too.

Does my account hold my numbers?

Yes. They are saved to your account, so any device you log in on shows them.

What about a shared computer?

Log out when you finish. Logging out takes your numbers out of that browser.

What do the milestone and monthly emails store?

Both are off until you switch them on in Settings. After a check-in, the app sends us your milestone position and the month’s moves as percentages and counts. Amounts and the names you typed are never sent. Switching an email off deletes what was sent for it.

What does the community receive?

Only if you join. The app then sends your country, a five-year range for when you plan to stop, your goal progress in steps of 10%, the kinds of asset you have, your mix of assets rounded to 5%, the change in value as a percentage, and wish-list ideas and report filters chosen from ready-made lists. The server stores only words from the app’s own lists. The minimum group size is 1, so a small group is shown as it is. The Community page has the detail.

How do I delete everything?

Delete your account from the Account page. That removes everything we hold for you: your email address, your numbers, your logins, your reminder, what was sent for your emails and your entry in the community.

Is there a privacy policy?

Yes. The formal one is here.
