General information, not advice
In plain English. Escape Velocity does arithmetic on the numbers you enter and shows what-ifs. It doesn’t know your whole situation, your goals or your tax. Forecasts are estimates and past growth doesn’t predict future growth. For decisions about your own money, speak to a licensed financial adviser.
What you see in the app
- Forecasts use the monthly amount and growth rate you enter (or an estimate from your own history, capped at 15% a year) and show cautious, base-case and optimistic versions. They are estimates, not predictions.
- “What if you changed one thing?” changes one assumption at a time for orientation. These are what-ifs, not suggestions or predictions. Ideas that name your investments measure growth that includes money you added.
- Insights describe your numbers using simple rules. They are general information.
- The 4% figure is a rule of thumb that came from US research on retirements of about 30 years. It is not a guarantee.
- Super is counted in your net worth like any other investment. The forecast does not model when super can be accessed.
Not personal advice
Everything in Escape Velocity is general information and general calculation. It is not personal advice, and it does not take into account your objectives, financial situation or needs. It is not financial product, investment, credit, tax, legal, accounting, superannuation or insurance advice. It is not a recommendation or an opinion about whether to buy, hold or sell anything.
We are not financial advisers and we do not hold an Australian financial services licence. Speak to a licensed professional before you act on anything.
Independence
Escape Velocity is independent. It is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, the makers of any third-party material that the app links to.
